The 16th International Exhibition ‘’Agro / Food / Drink / Tech 2016’’ – of agriculture, food industry, food processing and packaging technology organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and the EU program ‘’ENPARD’’ (European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development) is held from November 30 to December 2 at the 11th and 6th pavilions of the exhibition center ‘’Expo Georgia “.
The International Exhibition of Agriculture, food industry, food processing and packaging technology is one of the large-scale events in the agriculture sector, which includes a cutting-edge technologies, current trends, machinery and services. The number of visitors and companies participating in the exhibition is increasing annually. Accordingly, by means of establishing new networks, the exhibition provides good business opportunities to participants. Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Agriculture of Georgia opened the event.
,, Our goal is to promote a high standard, business-oriented agriculture, which will be available through introduction of new technologies, otherwise, without appropriate knowledge and skills it will be impossible to ensure relevant employees to have an access to new equipment and technologies. We’re glad, that, this year the number of our agricultural cooperatives participating in the exhibition is significantly increased, moreover, the co-operatives are able to attract more customers through presenting their production to buyers, they get in touch with the food industry professionals, seek new markets, learn more about successful business persons etc. Subsequently, the above mentioned exhibition is a good opportunity for agribusiness development and establishment of new contacts”-Levan Davitashvili said.
Through Agriculture and Rural Development Neighbourhood Programme ‘’ENPARD’’ the EU actively supports agricultural cooperation in Georgia not only by providing an access to financial aid, but to increase knowledge and skills of the members of cooperatives as well- was noted by the Minister of Agriculture.
Levan Davitashvili thanked the representatives of the European Union for their support to the agricultural development in the country, he thanked all participants and organizers of the exhibition.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia, H.E. Mr. Jos Douma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Georgia H.E.Antonio Enrico Bartoli and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Belarusian Republic to Georgia Mikhail Myatlikov attended the opening ceremony of the 15th International Exhibition for Agriculture, Food and Drink Products, Packaging and Processing Equipment.
It’s second year, that agricultural cooperatives present and sale their products at the exhibition within the Agro/Food/Drink/Tech 2016 and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and the Agriculture and Rural Development Neighbourhood Programme ‘’ENPARD’’.
This year, approximately 40 agricultural cooperatives present their products including honey and beekeeping products, tea, nuts, dried fruit, churchkhela, cheese, herbs, vegetables, fruit in the 6-th Pavilion of the exhibition center “Expo Georgia”. About 150 companies from 18 countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia, Poland, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Lithuania, Turkey, etc.) will present agricultural equipment, machinery, containers and packaging materials, greenhouse technology and equipment, irrigation systems, laboratory equipment, planting and seed materials, fertilizers and pesticides, consulting services and modern technologies, as well as drinks and food products in the exhibition. Similar to previous years small farmers from all regions of Georgia attend the event, which is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and ‘’ Expo Georgia ‘’. The exhibition gives farmers opportunities to establish direct contacts with entrepreneurs, to learn more about new technologies and innovations in the field of agriculture.
The officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia and its sub-agencies, as well as the representatives of the diplomatic corps, international and donor organizations attended the opening ceremony of the Agro / Food / Drink / Tech 2016. The exhibition is held at the 11th and 6th pavilions of the exhibition center “Expo Georgia” and will last from November 30 to December 2.
